The Squawka Football App App Reviews

Has the potential to be a fantastic app, especially considering some of the information is provided by Opta however its extremely temperamental. Sometimes certain things such as photos or stats dont load and sometimes the whole news feed doesnt load. When it works, its brilliant. Just needs a few tweaks.

Getting worse and worse over time

Used to be my favorite football app, but notifications issues (match started 5x times long after the game is finished), awful responsiveness and crashes are pushing me away. Feeling truly disappointed :( perhaps you should hire a good developing team to fix this app?

Started great- getting worse

Love the articles and stats- but getting harder and harder to get to them with all the App suggestions flooding the page. Takes me out and have to load he same page and start from the top. Lame. Need to fix pronto.

Dark Patterns

I’m somewhat torn because the quality of the actual content is actually quite good. The news feed is great, with timely stories and information. The stats are outstanding. I would use it regularly if it wasn’t so evil… The problem is that they’ve not just added annoying ads (which they also have), but the seem to have figured out a way to periodically push you out of their application and into the App Store to view whichever app they’re (presumably) paid to hock. I didn’t think this was possible without direct user input (i.e. actually clicking on an ad) however I tested this by viewing one of their stories and just waiting. Sure enough a few seconds in I was shunted over to the App Store to view something completely unrelated to anything. The development community often refers to these as “Dark Patterns” and there’s some good sites out there to show you where developers are abusing users with this type of greedy, manipulative coding. The Squawka developers would do well to stop treating their users as a disposable source of income if they’re serious about fostering a community of Football enthusiasts. Unfortunately I can’t condone this type of abusive behavior, so I won’t be continuing to use this application even though I do think they have valuable content. Hopefully they’ll see the light and remove their dark patterns. If they do, I’ll be the first to come back…

Garbage

It never works. When I open it the logo just spins and nothing happens. On LTE and wifi. Just deleted it.

Used to be great

Used to be a great app, info was best than anywhere else but it needs some serious fixing. Sort it out guys but Im going to have to delete it till its done

Overrun by ads

Love Squawka but the app is unusable. Every time I open a page I get redirected to some piss-poor free game on the App Store. Hisssss

Needs to improve

App is getting worse with each update; shame because it was really good when it first came out.

Nice, but annoying

I really like the super slick interface and the style. The content moderators are funny too. But too many of the "news" stories come from gossip mags, the app keeps kicking me over to the App Store to purchase offensively stupid games, and the little pop up at the bottom of the news story is constantly getting in the way. Wish I could use this app, but the cons make it too annoying.

iPhone 6/Plus support

please update the app so it supports new iPhones screen res .

Needs update

Just need to fix editing profile and adding favourite teams it always says error or it says argument invalid. But good app

update

this app is perfect but need update

Great Info, Terrible App

The statistical information provided by Squaka is fantastic, unfortunately thats where the goodness ends. The app itself is PAINFULLY slow and contains many re-directs that open the App Store without you even clicking on a link. Any time you go to read an article from the web expect at least one re-direct to open your App Store. The advertising is maddening, but if you can get past it then you have a world of information at your fingertips.

Blows away other football apps

UPDATE 25/04/15: Unfortunately the amount of quality stats that Squawka provides is dwarfed by the apps crippling performance issues. The app has grown so slow that its almost not worth using. Most days the dashboard wont even load, frequently have to delete and reinstall app to get my teams to appear, and even THEN the team pages refuse to load as well. Hold off for an update, hopefully Squawka can bring the app back up to par. ------ Ditched ESPNFC for this. So much info, all the stats and news you could ever want, easy and intuitive interface, simple and beautiful. Agree with others about the bar at the bottom of the screen...the app doesnt seem to be optimized for the 5 screen, but it doesnt interfere too much with use/viewing, IMO. Otherwise great app.

Comparison

Good app, bugs need to be fixed so it stops crashing. Adding the comparison feature found on the website would make this a 5 star app.

Add the comparison like the site

This app is great, but.. I think they should add the comparison like they have in the website it would be an excellent addition and would make me give it 5 stars :)

Always have to delete

Love this app and I love Squawka... Only problem is after I have had it for a few weeks when I open it up it the logo will just spin and spin. So then I have to delete it and download it again for it to work which is annoying and sometimes takes up as much time as I had to flip through the app in the first place. 5 stars if this is fixed.

Comparison matrix???

Wheres the comparison matrix? Thats the only unique thing about squawka! I can read articles and get stats on espn, bleacher report, etc. I DOWNLOADED THE APP COS I THOUGHT IT HAD THE COMPARISON MATRIX. WHEN I USE THE MATRIX ON MY PHONE THROUGH THE WEBSITE I HAVE TROUBLE ZOOMING IN AND OUT.

Could be better

Would be the best app in the world if one had head-to-head stats for upcoming fixtures

Squawk

Information wise is the best statistic app, but the app stinks. Prefer "who scored?" Because of better functionality.
